How the Group Began
In 1999, three North Oak Cliff neighbors began to re-imagine the retail corridor adjacent to their neighborhood – the Fort Worth Avenue corridor. They did some research, developed a lot of ideas and publicly presented them at the first Fort Worth Avenue Summit in January of 2002. As support grew, they developed PD 714, which was passed by the Dallas City Council in 2005.
Previously zoned for industrial research, the corridor was on its way to becoming a vibrant mix of retail, residential and commercial, as well as a bike- and pedestrian-friendly community.
We wish to thank our past, present and future all-volunteer Boards of Directors for their guidance and hard work, as well as the hundreds of residents and sponsors that have helped bring this vision to life.
