What We Do
The Fort Worth Avenue Development Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of volunteers dedicated to driving well-designed growth along the 3-1/2 mile section of West Commerce Street and Fort Worth Avenue between Beckley Avenue and Westmoreland Road.
Who We Are
Every day, we help transform the corridor into a vibrant, mixed-use commercial and residential development by making it more bike– and pedestrian–friendly, enhancing public spaces with art and honoring the area’s unique history and character. Most importantly, we ensure it all adheres to PD 714, an ordinance written by our founding board members and passed by the Dallas City Council in 2005.
The Tree
This is just one of many successes for our board and our community. In 2023, FWADG secured official historic recognition for the Gateway Pecan Tree, located at the foot of the Commerce Street Bridge. Declared “a living legend” by the Texas Historic Tree Coalition, it has survived the Great Flood of 1908, construction of the Trinity River levees and the addition of the Beckley/Commerce interchange.

Beautification
